Welcome to SGLRA
It wasn’t too many years ago when the site of today’s South Grand Lake Regional airport was little more than a hayfield, with no more than a couple of run-down hangars to justify the application of the term 'airport'. It was a grass strip when properly mowed and maintained.
But that is all now distant history. The asphalt surfacing of the runway was achieved through the generosity of those who would utilize the airport, the support of area lake organizations, and the town of Ketchum. What many South Grand Lakers thought of as little more than a pipe dream, was becoming a reality and developing a life of its own.
The improvements just keep coming thanks to the tireless efforts of the airport board, a bevy of volunteers, The Girlfriends of the Airport, and the Grand Lake Community. The facility NOW offers FULL SERVICE TO BUSINESS AND PERSONAL PROP AND JET AIRCRAFT.
Historically, the lake is visited by those who live within a moderate driving distance. The purpose of the airport is to reach out via aircraft to a new market of visitors from outside the normal drive time, and to continue increasing the number of visitors to provide further support for the Grand Lake Area Economy. The airport needs continued community support. If you have questions, suggestions, or would like to be a supporter of the airport, call Brent Howard 918-693-1855.
The annual economic impact of South Grand Lake Airport is $2.5 million.
