The Artichoke ON Grand Lake History:

Offering fine dining only minutes from the shores of Grand Lake, The Artichoke Restaurant and Bar serves outstanding steaks, chicken, and seafood in the cozy setting of a historic farmhouse that is more than a century old. The result is a relaxing, country atmosphere that achieves a high level of elegance. Try the steak soup, the Syrian Salad, a Whole Fried Potato, or enjoy the shrimp, prepared three ways. The house artichoke and spinach dip, served with pita points, comes highly recommended, as does the fresh asparagus, grown on the premises in the restaurant’s garden.

The Artichoke Restaurant History

After many years in the food service industry Jim and Diana Sellers decided to move to Grand Lake after selling their large catering business in the Oklahoma City area. After locating a place to put a commercial green house, called The Potting Shed, the property also had a small farm house the was first built over 100 years ago.

By adding a commercial kitchen on the east side of the old house they now had the best of both worlds, a new modern kitchen and a quaint comfortable dining area in the former living and dining rooms of the house. The kitchen was turned into a bar area and has become the Cheers Bar of the lake, with 11 bar stools it is a place to meet new and old friends for a fun evening. The Artichoke has been serving Grand Lake for over 9 years and was voted one of the top 100 American Cuisine Restaurants in the country. As well as awarded by Grand Lake Association members as the "Where to Eat at Grand Lake for 2013".

The menu is a collection of items the Sellers' have picked up along a forty year career for Jim and many years together on serving fine food to many. With a mix of chicken, shrimp three ways, seafood, and of course the best possible steak around the pond.

During the growing season, the Artichoke uses some home grown vegetable and herbs from the large garden next the parking area.
