Kick Up Your Heels at Harbors View Marina Annual Barn Dance and Party Saturday
Dust off your cowboy boots and Wranglers. Judy is having a party and we’re all invited.
Harbors View Marina General Manager Judy Florida is holding her famous Barn Dance and Party Saturday, Nov. 11, and it promises to be a good time for the entire family.
This is the third year Florida and Harbors View Marina have hosted the Barn Dance and Party that is held in an authentic working barn. The evening will include a fried chicken dinner with all the trimmings, live country music, dancing, a bonfire with s’mores, horse-drawn hayrides, photo booth, horseshoes and kids’ activities, including stick horse races and calf roping. A cash bar will be provided by Docks Bar.
“We always like to do a fall party and the Barn Dance and Party is a blast. It’s a good old-fashioned good time,” Florida said. “The barn has been decorated like Pinterest threw up. It’s amazing.
“For weeks, we clean out the barn. For a couple of weeks, they decorate the barn. And, for one night, we party in the barn.”
The Barn Dance and Party is open to the public and is a family-friendly event. The party will take place from 4 to 9 p.m. and will be held at Judy’s Party Barn.
Country/Red Dirt band, Whiskey Poet Society, will be providing the live musical entertainment at this year’s event.
Fronted by Mark Chamberlain on vocals and acoustic guitar, Whiskey Poet Society includes Dennis Blackburn on vocals, electric and steel guitars, Rick Yeubanks on fiddle, Rick Alumbaugh on vocals and bass guitar, and Brandi Chamberlain on drums.
These talented musicians play the music that their audiences enjoy.
“We are a country and red dirt band. We have a traditional country sound, but we also play some rock ’n’ roll,” Chamberlain said.
Whiskey Poet Society plays both original pieces and cover songs. Chamberlain’s original songs include “Stillwater Cowgirl” and “Grand Lake.” A tribute to Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees, “Grand Lake” was played at a Bassmaster event during the opening day take off.
The band has appeared at a variety of venues, including rodeos and festivals, all of the Cherokee Casinos, Bordertown Casino, Indigo Sky Casino and Willie’s Saloon in Stillwater, as well as private events.
This will be Whiskey Poet Society’s third year performing at the Barn Dance and Party.
Florida recently announced that this year’s event will also include a “Cash or Cans” campaign that will support the Grand Lake Blue House, a long-standing area food bank that needs canned items and financial support for the holiday season.
“The Blue House’s pantry is empty and the holidays are upon us. Everyone bring a canned food item and let’s fill the trough for The Blue House,” Florida said. “We’ll also take cash donations.”
Harbors View Marina has custom, long-sleeve T-shirts available to commemorate this year’s Barn Dance and Party. The shirts are available at the marina and will be for sale during the event. Sizes S-XL are $18 and extended sales are $24.
Tickets for the Barn Dance and Party are $20 per person and can be purchased at Harbors View Marina. Tickets will also be available at the door.
