Sail On A Reading Adventure
Did you know that children who are read to have bigger vocabularies when they enter school?
Also that the ability to learn language skills is greatest before the age of six?
Langley Public Library is offering a free program for children – “1000 Books Before Kindergarten”. The Launch Party will be October 17, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Library.
This free program encourages you to read 1000 books to your child before he/she enters school. A goal experts say children need to help them learn to read for themselves.
One of the best ways to encourage learning is to spend time sharing books every day. Reading to your child helps develop important pre-reading skills that provide a solid foundation - a key to school and learning success!
Children birth to five years of age are invited to participate in this new program!
Stop by the library to sign up today.
You will receive your folder, along with directions for the program and your journal sheets to begin reading your first 100 books as well as a beautiful bag to keep your child’s books in.
Your child will receive a prize ribbon and certificate after each 100 books read.
