Lendonwood invites artists to register for Art in the Garden
Art in the Garden
Visitors browse among paintings, crafts, pottery and more at a past Art in the Garden in Lendonwood Gardens. Lendonwood invites artists and craftspersons to register to participate in the event, which will be held this year on Saturday, May 4.
Lendonwood Gardens is issuing a call for area artists and artisans to sign up for the 17th annual Art in the Garden show set for Saturday, May 4, at the botanical garden in Grove. Area artists are invited to reserve booths for showing and selling their works at the annual show.
This year, Art in the Garden will be part of the first ArtSPLASH Weekend in Grove, which also includes a downtown Arts Festival on Friday, May 3, and Celtic Day at Har-Ber Village on Saturday, May 4.
“Working with the Grand Area Creative Alliance, we want to splash the arts all around the area that weekend,” said Pauline Hale, Lendonwood president. “Our goal, both by Lendonwood and the Creative Alliance, is to bring heightened awareness of the amazing creative talents in the Grand Lake area.”
Hale said the weekend will offer increased opportunities for artists to display and/or sell their works, as well as a chance to win some cash. Artists who participate in both the downtown Arts Festival and Lendonwood’s Art in the Garden will have their names entered in a drawing for $100.
Lendonwood will continue to handle Art in the Garden display space registration, while artist registration for the downtown Arts Festival will be managed by Judi Barber, president of Creative Alliance, at creativealliance743@gmail.com.
There is no charge for art exhibitors to participate in the Art in the Garden show, according to Stan Starts, Lendonwood board member who is coordinating the event. A deposit of $25 reserves booth space and is reimbursable to artists who participate. Deadline for requesting booth space is Saturday, April 27.
Booths will be set up throughout the Gardens and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Artists retain all proceeds from the sale of their artworks.
Art in the Garden will feature works by young school-age artists as well as professional artists and accomplished craftspersons. Participants typically include potters, wood-turners, jewelry-makers, sculptors and carvers, in addition to artists working with oils, watercolors and other media.
During the Art in the Garden event, entrance is free for the public to explore the eight-acre botanical garden and enjoy the displays of arts and crafts.
“On this special day, visitors will get to see the garden in full bloom, while checking out the works of a diverse and talented group of artists and artisans,” Starts said. “Beautiful art combined with a beautiful garden makes for a delightful day.”
Exhibitors interested in participating in Art in the Garden may contact Starts at 918-786-5300 or Lendonwood at 918-786-2938 for more information and to request a display space packet.
Lendonwood displays large collections of colorful azaleas, rhododendrons, dogwoods, daylilies, Japanese maples, hostas and more. The eight-acre garden is open year-round during daylight hours.
