Recruiting Wildlife Agents is Difficult
Lt. Robert Funke of the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism says support for his agency is declining as the number of people hunting and fishing declines. During an address to the Grove Rotary Club, he noted that recruiting new field agents is also a major problem. The starting salary for a field agent is $21.25 an hour, but they still have difficulty with recruitment. A field agent requires a college degree. There are currently openings in southeast Kansas.
