Grove Rotary awards a Quick Response Grant program to Second Chance Pet Rescue

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to have an impact on many of Grand Lake’s area nonprofits.

The Grove Rotary Club is offering a COVID -19 Quick Response Grant program to help meet emergency needs. This week, Second Chance Pet Rescue was awarded a grant of $2,800 to be used to purchase veterinary medicines for the shelter’s dogs and cats.

The rescue is facing major financial difficulties since their main source of revenue, the Second Chance Thrift store, has been closed for more than two months. In addition, the rescue itself, was closed to adoptions which also provides revenue for the shelter. The shelter has recently reopened adoptions by appointment.

Nonprofits in need can apply for an emergency grant by filling out an application which can be found on the club’s website at groverotary.org.

With so many nonprofits struggling, and the Grove Rotary Club Foundation is currently raising money to be used as part of a community-wide grant program through a campaign called #StrongerTogetherGrove. All donations will be used to meet the needs of local charities.

The club is asking area residents to consider donating to this cause online via the StrongerTogetherGrove site at https://donate.onecause.com/strongertogethergrove. Checks can be mailed to the Rotary Foundation: GRF, PO Box 452286, Grove, OK 74345-2286. Or you can call 918-707-0821 to make a credit or debit card pledge.

Last year the Grove Rotary Club awarded nearly $170,000 in grants and scholarships to local entities.
