New Year New Program New Goals

I no longer do New Year’s resolutions - but I do plan for each year based on past year’s experiences and successes/failures.  Here’s my two-cents for Peaceful Adoption Shelter – looking at 2019.

Our PAAS Ride-to-Rescue continues to save more than 1,500 dogs (some cats) each year thanks to our partnership with Dumb Friends League in Colorado, our PACFA certification (a must have), and the cooperation from our Oklahoma partners who follow the rules so their homeless dogs can find a new home.  By the end of this year, we will probably have two transports per week!!!!

Pets for Life programs in the Vinita and Tahlequah areas are giving pet owners a hand-up so they can keep their pets but not have to worry about unwanted litters.  We now know from experience that this program is one of the most rewarding programs for a community. Seeing the smiling faces of pet owners who could not afford spay/neuter – but now know their beloved pet(s) will keep them company and provide the love and affection that only a pet owner understands- - is a huge reward for all of us including the area veterinarians.

Pet Over Population programs for those who meet certain income criteria also give us the opportunity to help pet owners keep their pets and not worry about unwanted litters.  The smiles, tears and heart-felt thank you say so much. And, yes we are keeping the veterinarians busy.

What’s more exciting if our new partnership with Oklahoma Humane Society - - - 2019 is going to be the best year – yet - - for homeless dogs and cats in northeast Oklahoma.

STAY TUNED!!!!
