Pal Zip Larry Meant to meet

Heartwarming story from a recent PAAS dog adopter in Colorado.

It was out of character for Larry to go to the shelter on his own - - - until - - - he read the description (hadn’t seen the dog) about a dog from the Oklahoma PAAS program and it just “hit him”. The Chase family had recently lost a beloved dog of 12 years and there was a hole to fill. Larry truly felt it was divine intervention that led him to Pal (now Zip). It was completely out of character for Larry to go on his own to the shelter and, once there, he made it very clear he only wanted to see Pal.

Larry has FSHD (facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy). 16 years ago he got the diagnosis and, until then, had ridden his Harley, enjoyed the outdoors, was active. 16 years later he fights pain and growing weakness. He relies on leg braces and walking sticks. Walking is good - - even when it hurts - - and he’s a regular at the dog park. Fellow walkers give him tremendous support.

There are many reasons people adopt dogs. Larry needed Zip to help give him strength, and zip needed Larry. Zip is a very smart dog, an emotional support dog without even knowing it!! Zip was obviously well cared for, he did not arrive in Colorado with any “fearful” baggage.

Larry and Zip will have such fun together. Thanks!!!! Chase family for adopting Zip.
