Week to be Thankful

A personal blog of thanks for the most amazing staff, volunteers and board of directors. Team work, it takes a village, collaboration, trust and financial support. When you have that, it is amazing what can be accomplished.

Today, 4 years and 7 months after we opened the doors, we’re saving the lives of more homeless Oklahoma dogs than we could have ever imagined. In addition, we just recently began an in-house spay/neuter clinic.

By the numbers, 5,000+ homeless Oklahoma dogs from 15 municipal shelters/partners have new homes in Colorado. 2,000+ area dogs and cats have been “fixed” so unwanted litters will not be in their lives - - or the lives of those who care for them.

It was a day of celebration for all of us PAAS, when Homer (our 5000 th dog) rode the bus and found a new home in Colorado in less than 48 hours after he arrived.

You can find his story on our youtube page (PAAS Vinita) and our webpage (www.paasvinita.com). The Denver CBS affiliate covered the event.

For me, personally, on spay/neuter days it is rewarding to watch, listen and learn from the pet owners as their beloved pets get “fixed”. The stories validate the importance a pet plays in our lives and, for those of us in rescue, it is a slam dunk because we know those pets will not have (or cause) an unwanted litter.

PAAS has much to be thankful for ….I’m proud to be part of the journey.
