How Many Wedges Should I Carry? There are different wedge configurations to consider based on your game:
- Two Wedges
If you are good with manipulating yardages of your clubs, especially wedges, you can make all short game shots with just two wedges. This will allow you to carry a hybrid which can replace either a wood or an iron. You can spread out the lofts evenly by choosing a 48° Pitching Wedge and 56° sand wedge. Your 9-iron will be around 41°.
- Three Wedges
Three wedges are the most preferred configuration for most golfers. We would recommend uniform gaps between the wedges like a 46° Pitching Wedge, a 52° Gap Wedge, and a 58° Lob Wedge. Like we said, lob wedge can get you out of sand traps.
- Four Wedges
If you are a beginner or you have trouble controlling the yardage of your pitch shots or your pitches are far too short, you will benefit from the full set of wedges. Again, the aim is to spread the lofts uniformly. So we would suggest a 46° Pitching Wedge, a 50° Gap Wedge, a 54° Sand Wedge and a 58° Lob Wedge.

Results of Monday Night Skins game and Closest to the Pin were as follows: Skins winners were Hole #8 Kerry Bass and Hole #5 Ronnie Daughtery There was no one on the greens for the Closest to the Pin contest. CTP will carry over to next week. We had a great turn out and weather was perfect. Nice breeze to keep you cool. Don’t miss out on the fun. It is not too late to join. See you at the Grove. Wednesday Morning League for Senior men at Cherokee Grove. Just stop by the Cherokee Grove club house for information.
This will be a Senior Men’s league for 60 and over playing 9 holes. $20 fee includes cart fee and entry in $5 skins game. (Members play for $10) Tee off each Wednesday promptly at 8 a.m.
Patricia island Country Club Ladies Golf League
