About Venn Johns
Venn Johns, now known as “The Bull Riding Ninja,” has invested his entire life doing things to make him the best he can be at whatever he sets his mind to. Being the oldest professional bull rider competing at the most elite level of bull riding, he finds training for the American Ninja Warrior and several recovery techniques allow him to continue to be competitive with bull riders and ninjas half his age. He has more than 20 years of experience that started with the U.S. Olympic training center in Pueblo, Colo., when he was just 15 years old, to training with the legendary PRCA World Champion bull rider, Gary Leffew. His philosophy for life and athletics were shaped by ideas stemming from Bruce Lee: Take bits and pieces of information from all available learning opportunities and use them to create your own unique discipline.
This life philosophy has spurred Venn toward a long and diverse list of achievements. Some of his accomplishments through the years include U.S. National Men’s Gymnastics team member, Oklahoma University full gymnastics scholarship recipient, NCAA All American (gymnastics), Professional MMA Fighter (14-3 record), Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Karate, Championship bull riding title — South America, multiple association finals contestant and American Ninja Warrior competitor.
