All Things Nautical

Shoppers and vendors alike were happy with the turnout for and the success of last year's Grand Nautical Market. Organizers expect another great day on Saturday, Sept. 16.

Whether you live on Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees or just visit its waters every chance you get, if you embrace a nautical-themed life, the second annual Grand Nautical Market Saturday, Sept. 16, is a not-to-be-missed event.

Hosted by Captain’s Corner Boat and RV Storage at its 446056 East 350 Road location north of Langley, the Grand Nautical Market is a free, one-day event featuring all things nautical, boating and lake-oriented.

A wide of array of vendors are expected to attend the event that will offer the best one-stop nautical shopping experience on Grand Lake. Boaters, fishermen and lake lovers alike will find all sorts of nautical and marine-related treasures and bargains.

“You can expect to find a little bit of everything nautical,” said Paula Silzer, who owns and operates Captain’s Corner with her husband, Wade. “Whatever you can imagine, chances are you’ll find it at Grand Nautical Market.”

Nautical Collections For Sale

Some of the vendors at the Grand Nautical Market will include Grand Lake Restoration, Scott Brillhart, Phil Hennage, Cherokee Woody, Laurie O’Donnell, Scott Graves, Rebel Marine and Debra Gardener. These vendors will be bringing their nautical collections to sell.

The selection of items available will include vintage boat parts and accessories, nautical home decor items, antiques, furniture, artwork, collectibles, hand-painted signs, gifts and jewelry, as well as fishing gear, bait and tackle, hard-to-find boat parts, motors, ship’s wheels, anchors and boating equipment, hardware and accessories.

In addition, Laurie O’Donnell will have an assortment of apparel items for sale, including sundresses and shorts. Scott Graves will have pictures from Grand Life Photography, featuring images taken on or around Grand Lake. Lou Lou’s Attic will be bringing a variety of treasures, including collectibles, novelty items and more. Sunset Paddle Board will also be a vendor at Grand Nautical Market.

TowboatU.S. Grand Lake, an on-the-water towing service located on Grand Lake, will have memberships available at its booth. The Grand Lake Sail and Power Squadron will also have a booth at Grand Nautical Market. Members of the Squadron will be providing information on boating safety and other educational boating information, including brochures about the organization’s boating classes, vessel safety checks and other activities of the boating club.

Food Trucks Add to the Experience

Food trucks will be on-site during the market so shoppers can take a break and refuel while searching for treasures and bargains.

The Ketchum High School FFA chapter will be serving breakfast and snacks from its popular food truck. The menu will include hot and fresh cinnamon rolls, homestyle biscuits and gravy, fruit cups and coffee for breakfast. In the afternoon, the FFA food truck will be selling farm-fresh caramel apples and water.

For lunch, Grand Nautical Market shoppers can stop by the Incredible Edibles Catering food truck. One of the newest food trucks on Grand Lake, incredible Edibles is a 32-foot trailer that owner Cindy Ellison describes as “a mobile kitchen.”

“All of my food is homemade and slow-cooked is my motto,” Ellison said. “I don’t serve anything I don’t like to eat myself. I have to like what I sell.”

Although Ellison has 13 years of experience in the food truck industry, she has just recently moved to the Grand Lake area and looks forward to sharing her homemade food to shoppers at the Grand Nautical Market. The Incredible Edibles Catering food truck is also available for catering of weddings, birthday and graduation parties, pretty much anything, Ellison says.

These homemade selections will include two sandwiches that adhere to Ellison’s slow-cooked motto, the prime rib sandwich, which she describes as butter tender, and a Hawaiian-style pulled pork sandwich that is topped with grilled pineapple.

There will also be several gourmet burgers to choose from, including the Mac Attack, which features fried, homemade macaroni and cheese on a third-pound burger, and the Pig burger, a third-pound burger topped with pulled pork.

Incredible Edibles’ ribbon fries are delicious on their own, but Ellison also serves them topped with green chilis, pulled pork, cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion. Definitely a must-try, Ellison says.

Ellison also recommends trying the only hot dog on her menu, which is a Nathan’s all-beef hot dog wrapped in thick-cut bacon and deep fried.

Incredible Edibles also has several tasty sweet treats, including funnel cakes, deep-fried cookie dough and deep-fried Oreos.

A variety of beverages will also be available at the food trucks.

Still Accepting Vendors

There is plenty of booth space available and, according to organizers, vendors are still be accepted for the Grand Nautical Market, which is great for shoppers because more vendors mean even more wonderful nautical pieces to choose from.

For vendors who need it, there is room for trailers to be parked behind the booths, organizers say.

The Grand Nautical Market will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with plenty of free parking available. The market will be located at Captain’s Corner, a full-service boat and RV storage facility on Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees. It is located two miles north of Langley at 446056 East 350 Road, the corner of state Highway 82 and East 350 Road.

The Silzers also own and operate Rebel Marine, a full-service marine repair and maintenance facility, and TowboatU.S. Grand Lake.
