Something For Everyone to Love

In addition to the delicious chocolate desserts, there will be wine, tasty appetizers, gourmet coffee and more to sample at the Chocolate Affair, Wednesday, Feb. 5.

Due to the forecast of severe weather, Home of Hope has announced that it is rescheduling its much-anticipated Chocolate Affair from February 5 to Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m.

“The safety of our vendors, our visitors, our clients and our staff are paramount,” said Home of Hope Chief Executive Officer Ralph Richardson, Ph.D.. “We are extremely grateful for the Craig County Fairgrounds for making the venue available on the 12th at short notice, and to all of our vendors who have graciously regrouped and are willing to make the change work for the sake of everyone’s safety.”

Richardson also said that any tickets already purchased will still be good for the new date. Tickets will also remain on sale throughout the coming week. Anyone with questions or who purchased tickets but cannot attend on the new date, should contact Shelby Stewart, Home of Hope marketing and development coordinator, at (918) 256-7825 ext. 168.

Hosted by the Home of Hope, the 13th annual Chocolate Affair is Vinita’s sweetest event and will feature a sumptuous array of chocolate delights prepared by a number of the finest restaurants, caterers, speciality shops and wineries in Vinita and the Grand Lake area.

Vendors, including many returning favorites along with a few new ones, will be providing delicious samples of chocolate to the more than 400 guests expected to attend this much-anticipated annual chocolate tasting event.

A dessert lover’s dream, the Chocolate Affair is a fundraiser for the Home of Hope. It will be held in the Craig County Community Center at 915 East Apperson Road, in Vinita.

The Chocolate Affair is the perfect pre-Valentine date night for sweethearts and families alike. In addition to the delicious chocolate desserts, there will be wine, tasty appetizers, gourmet coffee and more to sample. The event will also include a silent auction, featuring a variety of items that would make wonderful Valentine gifts, and a Kids’ Zone.

Supervised activities for children, ages 3-10, are planned in the Kids Zone so parents can enjoy an early Valentine’s date. Coordinated by Vinita High School students, the children’s activities will include fun and games. Parents can check their children in to have fun at the Kids Zone while they leisurely enjoy their evening sampling delicious chocolate treats.

Chocolate Affair attendees are also invited to enter a free raffle for the chance to win a RTIC 110 Cooler. The raffle is being sponsored by Austin Brown State Farm Insurance.

Advance tickets for the Chocolate Affair are $10 and can be purchased at Home of Hope, Centsible Spending Vinita, Clanton’s Cafe, Lucille’s Flowers, The Farmhouse, the Vinita Area Chamber of Commerce, Janet’s Gifts and the Vinita Daily Journal.

Tickets will be $20 at the door for adults and $10 for children 6-12. No tickets are required for children 5 and under.

The Chocolate Affair is an annual fundraiser for Home of Hope, a nonprofit, community-based organization that provides residential and vocational programs to persons with developmental and other disabilities across northeast Oklahoma.

The fundraising event was started in 2008 to support Home of Hope’s programs and services.

“Contributions to the Chocolate Affair helps Home of Hope achieve our mission of promoting choices, independence and a meaningful way of life to the more than 250 individuals we serve,” said Home of Hope CEO Dr. Ralph Richardson. “As state and federal funding sources continue to be reduced, the cost of, and need for, our services continues to increase. This makes events such as the Chocolate Affair vital to our services. We are very appreciative of the vendors and guests who make this event possible.”

Established in 1968, Home of Hope Inc. has operations in Vinita, Jay, Miami, Claremore, Grove and Pryor. In addition to serving more than 250 adults with developmental and other disabilities, Home of Hope employs more than 600 staff members.

Stewart says silent auction items are still needed. Anyone interested in donating items for the silent auction or being a sponsor of the event should contact Stewart at (918) 256-7825 ext. 168 or by email at shelby.stewart@homeofhope.com.

Donations can also be sent to Chocolate Affair c/o Home of Hope, Inc., P.O. Box 903, Vinita, OK 74301. All donations are tax deductible as allowable by the Internal Revenue Service. Receipts will be provided.

For event and ticket information, call (918) 256-7825, ext. 168.
