2021 Holiday Dessert Online Auction for Second Chance Pet Rescue of Grand Lake
Specialty holiday desserts. Helping homeless pets. Combine the two and you have the 2021 Holiday Dessert Online Auction benefitting Second Chance Pet Rescue of Grand Lake. Talk about having your cake and eating it too.
The delicious auction items available include cakes, cookies, pies, apple dumplings, cheesecake and other tasty desserts.
Bidding for the popular online auction begins at 8 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, and continues through 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17. Be sure to check the auction site often to place your winning bid.
Desserts will be available for pickup on Saturday, Dec. 18, between noon and 4 p.m. at the Second Chance Thrift Shop, 220 E. 3rd St., in downtown Grove, just in time for holiday gatherings.

Moneys raised benefit the homeless dogs at cats at Second Chance Pet Rescue of Grand Lake, so bid generously.

Shangri-La’s Ultimate Christmas Party
Naughty or nice, you are invited to Shangri-La’s Ultimate Christmas Party from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10.
Open to the public, the party will be held at The Anchor at Shangri-La Resort. The festivities will include fun for all ages, including an ugly sweater contest, egg “nog shots” competition, karaoke, mitten mystery challenge, a reindeer “hunt” for the kids and much more.
There will also be $3 to $6 seasonal drink specials and game cards for The Anchor arcade will be available for 50 percent off, up to $100.
For even more holiday fun, Santa Claus and an elf will be on site as well.
The Anchor invites you to help with its Christmas canned food drive. Any and all donations will be appreciated.

Lights on the Lake 21st annual Lighted Christmas Parade
Grove will celebrate the season with a time-honored tradition as the Lights on the Lake 21st annual Lighted Christmas Parade rolls through town at 6 p.m.
One of the largest Christmas parades in the Grand Lake area, this holiday parade will feature lighted floats, marching bands and a variety of organizations, all decked out for the Christmas season. Debbie Bottoroff will serve as the grand marshal for this year’s parade.
“Musical Notes and Christmas Floats” is the parade’s theme, which means the lighted floats will be themed after a Christmas carol.
The parade route begins at the Grove Civic Center, heading north on Main Street to the 3rd Street intersection, then turns left and travels down 3rd Street to the Cheapo Depo parking lot.
2021 Grand Lake Christmas Light Boat Parade
Oklahoma’s largest Christmas light boat parade takes to the water Saturday, Dec. 11.
Hosted by the Cherokee Yacht Club and Marina, the festivities begin at 3 p.m. dockside. The event is open to the public and everyone is invited to bring their families to enjoy the all-afternoon Christmas party.
The Cherokee Christmas tree lighting will take place at dusk, then the boats will parade around Duck Creek. This year’s parade will follow a new route to maximize the number of people who can view the parade and shorten the parade route to benefit the participants.
The 2021 Grand Lake Christmas Light Boat Parade route will leave the Cherokee Yacht Club docks and turn right to travel north up Duck Creek. In front of Harbors View Marina, the parade will turn to go back south on the bank of Duck Creek past Arrowhead and Spinnaker Point. At the mouth of Duck Creek, the route turns left to travel up the Coves Bluff, then return down the Coves Bluff and along the east side of Duck Creek back to the Cherokee Yacht Club.
A big awards banquet buffet will be served in the ballroom following the parade.

Christmas Cookie Walk
All for Love will host its sixth annual Christmas Cookie Walk from 12 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Vinita First United Methodist Church, 314 W. Canadian Ave.
Everyone is invited to come walk through the goodies aisles and fill your cookie box to the brim. The cookie walk will offer more than 100 varieties of delicious homemade decorated cookies, fudge, candy and breads. Sugar-free options will be available as well.
The cost is $6 per pound. Each attendee will receive a box and gloves when you enter to use to pick out your goodies.
All proceeds will be used to help the dogs and cats in northeast Oklahoma.
Saturday, Dec. 18
Disney/Langley Christmas Parade
Decorated floats, off-road vehicles and more will parade from Langley to Disney at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18. Line up will start at 4:30 p.m. in Langley.
The annual Disney/Langley Christmas Parade will begin in Langley and travel across the Pensacola Dam into Disney, ending at the Disney Assembly of God.
A hometown Christmas celebration with a meet and greet with Santa Claus will be held directly after the parade at Copperwood Lodge. In addition to Santa, the celebration will include presents and cookies.
Copperwood Lodge is located at 220 W. Main in Disney.
Santa’s Ozark Mountain Village at Har-Ber Village
Sponsored by the Grove Area Chamber of Commerce and Har-Ber Village Museum, Santa’s Ozark Mountain Village is a mid-1800’s themed outdoor Christmas light display and walk-through experience.
Bring the whole family for a magical experience. Stroll through the reconstructed 1800s town lit up with Christmas lights, warm up with a mug of hot cocoa or wassail and let the kids enjoy taking pictures with Santa and playing in the hourly snowfall.
From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, the event will also include bluegrass music by the Back Porch Players, Victorian dancers, demonstrators and much more.
Tickets for Santa’s Ozark Mountain Village are $12 for adults (17+), $9.50 for seniors (63+), $7 for children (4-16), and $9.50 for Har-Ber Village members. Children 3 and under are free.
Har-Ber Village Museum is located at 4404 West 20th Road, in Grove.
Monkey Island Pub Christmas Party and Ugly Sweater Contest
What’s the holiday season without an awesome Christmas party? The Monkey Island Pub invites everyone to join them for their annual Christmas Party.
From 7 p.m. to midnight, Monkey Island Pub will be celebrating the season with a night of holiday cheer, good friends, great drinks and, maybe, some holiday mischief.
Be sure to wear your most colorful, obnoxious or downright hideous holiday sweater to compete in the popular annual Ugly Sweater Contest.

Shangri-La Winter Ball
Celebrate the holidays with dinner, dancing and live music at the holiday event of the year, the Shangri-La Winter Ball. It will be an evening to remember.
Held on Saturday, Dec. 18, in the Roosevelt Ballroom at Shangri-La, the evening begins with a cocktail hour from 6 to 7 p.m. Dinner and dessert follows from 7 to 8 p.m. with music and dancing from 8 p.m. to midnight..
Legendary crooner Wade Tower will provide an incredible array of timeless musical entertainment.
Fromage and charcuterie displays, as well as assorted hors d’ oeuvres will be available during the cocktail hour. The three-course dinner menu includes winter salad with shredded brussels sprouts, diced apples, feta cheese, candied pecans, bacon, pomegranate arils and honey-balsamic vinaigrette for the first course.
The second course will feature a Gala Surf and Turf, a port wine braised beef short rib with onion marmalade and butter jumbo shrimp with Hollandaise sauce, gnocchi and roasted parsnips. The fabulous dinner ends on a sweet note with a chocolate tart with toasted meringue, roasted pineapple, banana gelato, orange passion fruit sauce and cinnamon tuile for the third course.
The Shangri-La Winter Ball is $125 per person or $220 per couple with $4 wine and cocktails from the holiday bar. A table for 10 is $1,100. Add a standard room for $79 (subject to availability. $79 rate is available only to event attendees. Upgrades for $50 additional. Tax not included.)

Say goodbye to 2021 and ring in the new year at the Monkey Island Pub’s Winter Wonderland Prom costume party. Everyone is invited to get dressed up and party in the new year at the Pub from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.
