Shoppers and vendors alike were happy with the turnout for and the success of last year's Grand Nautical Market. Organizers expect another great day on Saturday, Sept. 16.

From boats to home decor, if it’s nautical, shoppers can expect to find it at the second annual Grand Nautical Market, Saturday, Sept. 16.

On Saturday, Sept. 16, the Grand Nautical Market will once again bring together a wide array of vendors for the best one-stop nautical shopping experience on Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees.

Hosted by Captain’s Corner Boat and RV Storage at its 446056 East 350 Road location north of Langley, the second annual Grand Nautical Market is a free, one-day event featuring all things nautical, boating and lake-oriented.

“Over the years, my husband and I have enjoyed going to nautical flea markets in Florida. We wanted an outlet for people to buy and sell nautical items here on Grand Lake. So, last year, we decided to hold the Grand Nautical Market,” said Paula Silzer, who owns and operates Captain’s Corner with her husband, Wade. “Now Grand Lake has a nautical market that will take place every year in the same location and on the same date, the third weekend in September.”

Boaters, fishermen and lake lovers alike can expect to find all sorts of nautical and marine-related treasures and bargains from vendors all around the Grand Lake area. The selection will include home decor items, antiques, furniture, artwork, collectibles, hand-painted signs, gifts, jewelry and apparel items, as well as fishing gear, bait and tackle, hard-to-find parts, motors, anchors and boating equipment, hardware and accessories. There will also be boats for sale.

“You can expect to find a little bit of everything nautical,” Silzer said. “Whatever you can imagine, chances are you’ll find it at Grand Nautical Market.”

In addition to the vendors selling nautical items, TowboatUS Grand Lake will have a booth. The on-the-water towing service located on Grand Lake will be selling memberships. The Grand Lake Sail and Power Squadron will also have a booth at Grand Nautical Market. Members of the Squadron will be providing information on boating safety and other educational boating information.

Food trucks, including the Ketchum High School FFA, which will be serving breakfast, will be on-site during the market so shoppers can refuel while they search for treasures.

Based on the turnout for and success of last year’s market, Silzer expects shoppers and vendors alike to have a great day at the Grand Nautical Market. She invites marina ship stores around Grand Lake to be a part of the market.

“With the end of the season approaching, the Grand Nautical Market would be a great way for ship stores to clear out their leftover and close-out merchandise,” Silzer said.

Vendors are still being accepted for the Grand Nautical Market. Rental for each 10’x10’ space is $50. Spots are also still available for food trucks.

The Grand Nautical Market will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with plenty of free parking available. The market will be located at Captain’s Corner, a full-service boat and RV storage facility on Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees. It is located two miles north of Langley at 446056 East 350 Road, the corner of state Highway 82 and East 350 Road.

The Silzers also own and operate Rebel Marine, a full-service marine repair and maintenance facility, and TowboatUS Grand Lake.
