Support Grand Lakes Locally-Owned Businesses on Small Business Saturday

For many, Black Friday signals the official start of holiday shopping. They spend the day after Thanksgiving racing frantically from big box stores to nationwide chain stores, trying to get the best deals of the season.

This year, the small, locally owned businesses in the Grand Lake area invite you to take a more sedate approach and consider starting your local holiday shopping on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 30.

Small Business Saturday is an annual shopping tradition dedicated to supporting small businesses and celebrating communities across the country. It was founded by American Express in 2010. Because small businesses play a key role in helping communities thrive, the Small Business Saturday #ShopSmall movement helps support local economies.

How important are small businesses?

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy, there are 350,718 small businesses operating in Oklahoma, which make up 99.4 percent of all businesses in the state. This past year, 11,446 new jobs were created by small businesses, meaning that year 52.4 percent of all employees in Oklahoma were working for a small business.

Many Grand Lake small businesses will be taking part in Small Business Saturday. Some will be hosting events while others will be offering special discounts throughout the day and continuing through the holiday season, including:

Tristah’s Boutique

Grand Lake’s newest shopping destination, Tristah’s Boutique is taking Christmas shopping to a whole new level. The chic boutique in Grove is like no other on Grand Lake. Featuring hand-selected, fashion-forward apparel, stylish jewelry, Tyler Candle Company candles and much more, Tristah’s Boutique is the place to shop for Christmas gifts for them and you. #SpoilTheOnesYouLove and #One4ThemOne4Me.

Tristah’s Boutique will be celebrating Small Business Saturday with treats for shoppers, a free gift from Tyler Candle Company and a special 10 percent off on your total purchase.

New merchandise arriving daily, so don’t miss out. Tristah’s Boutique is located at 2123 South Main, Suite F, in Grove. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Southern Darlin’s Boutique

This will be the fourth year Southern Darlin’s Boutique has participated in Small Business Saturday and the classy little boutique mall is celebrating with a Small Business Saturday Acts of Kindness Sale.

Located at 1666 N. 3rd St., Suite 2, in Langley, Southern Darlin’s Boutique is brimming with Southern hospitality and unique, trendy and vintage treasures. Shopping for Christmas gifts has never been so easy.

This year, the boutique mall is combining its biggest sale of the year with is Acts of Kindness event. Throughout the months of October and November, Southern Darlin’s Boutique has been giving out “Caught You Being Kind” cards to customers, who were asked to give the cards to anyone they caught in the act of being kind.

In addition to spreading a smile, the recipients of the cards can bring them to the boutique mall for a chance to win a prize on Small Business Saturday.

Stop by Southern Darlin’s Boutique this Saturday. You’ll discover amazing sales, fun games, door prizes, giveaways and refreshments. Be sure and register for the grand prize.

The boutique is open 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Pier 13 Wine & Spirits

Langley’s only wine and spirits store, Pier 13 Wine & Spirits is the place to stock up on wine and champagne for holiday parties and gift giving.

In addition to its generous selection of fine wines and spirits, Pier 13 carries a wide array of beers and other hard-to-find items, including a selection of some of Oklahoma’s best brewed craft beers.

On Small Business Saturday and throughout the holiday season, Pier 13 is the place to turn when shopping for palate-pleasing vintages for the wine connoisseur or spirits aficionado on your gift-giving list. There are also plenty of items to choose from for last-minute gifts, including an abundance of special holiday gift sets offering something for everyone.

If you don’t find what you’re looking for in stock, let them know and Pier 13 will special order it for you, in time to put under the Christmas tree.

On Small Business Saturday and throughout the holiday season, #DineSmall campaign encourages shoppers to continue to support local businesses after a full day of shopping by dining local.

Established through a partnership of the Small Business Administration and the National Restaurant Association, #DineSmall focuses on local restaurants, which make up a key portion of small businesses, with nine out of 10 restaurants having fewer than 50 employees.

From lakeside dining to homestyle cafes, the Grand Lake area offers shoppers a wide variety of local restaurants where they can #DineSmall this holiday season, including:

Buffalo Bar at Shangri-La Resort, 31000 South Highway 125, Monkey Island.

Clanton’s Cafe, 349 East Illinois, Vinita. On Small Business Saturday, Clanton’s Cafe will be offering a special on french fries, only 66 cents an order.

Doc’s Bar and Grill at Shangri-La Resort, 31000 South Highway 125, Monkey Island.

El Cabrito Mexican Restaurant, 137 West Euclid Ave., Vinita.

Honey Creek BBQ, 61991 East 315 Road, Grove.

Mooney’s Sunset Bar and Grill, 330 Lake Front St., Disney. This year, Small Business Saturday will be bedlam at Mooney’s Sunset Bar and Grill. Stop by and watch the bedlam football game and enjoy free snacks and $1.50 Bud Light cans. Use your American Express card to pay your bill and receive 10 percent off your total purchase.

The Waterway Cafe at Safe Harbor Harbors View Marina, 451107 East 320 Road, Afton.

Stuff’ns Cafe, 205 Ketchum Ave., Ketchum. Shop till you drop, then stop by Stuff’ns Cafe and enjoy a delicious grilled chicken salad for $5.00 on Small Business Saturday.
