Vinita Police Hosting Cops and Kids Day, All About the Pig BBQ Cook-Off Saturday
Join the Vinita Police Department for a full day of fun at its second annual Cops and Kids Day at the Park in Vinita.
The event starts at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, at North Park in Vinita. A section full of inflatables for all ages will be available. There will also be an area specifically for children 7 and under, so they can play freely, and you won’t have to worry about them being pushed out of the way by bigger kids.
Entertainment such as water slides, obstacle courses, bounce houses, soccer darts and many more inflatables will be a part of the fun on Saturday. A petting zoo will also be part of the fun, if weather permits.
Event-goers will also have the opportunity to enjoy attractions such as train rides, a mechanical bull, bungee jump, face painting and a dunk tank.
The Cops and Kids Program will also be having an All About the Pig BBQ Cook-off with a grand prize of $500. If you are interested in competing, slots are still available and can be filled by contacting the Vinita Police Department at (918) 256-6414 for more details. Entry fee is $100. Food will be served around 6 p.m.
Instead of paying admission at the door, those interested in attending will be able to purchase their discounted bracelets for $7 at the Vinita Police Department. But be sure to get those fast, because they will not be sold past Friday evening.
Entry is free to 16 and under, and $10 for 17 and up at the door.
Most attractions will be free, with the exception of a few that require tickets. You will receive five tickets with your admission, but you can purchase more if needed.
A barbecue dinner is included with your admission as well.
There will also be a Fun Run and 5K Run. Entry for the 5K will be $35 the day of the run and $20 for the Fun Run.
All the proceeds from the Cops and Kids program will go to help fund a shopping trip at Christmas for northeast Oklahoma youth in need.
