Call For Punkin Chunkin Vendors

The Vinita Area Chamber of Commerce today issued a call for vendors for the 4^th annual Route 66 Punkin Chunkin Festival. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 27, at John’s Tractor Works, 444934 US Hwy 60/66 in Vinita. The VACC is hoping to fill the pasture with food trucks, craft vendors, artists, retail shops, and public information booths.

The cost to participate is $25.00 for a 10 foot by 10 foot space, $35.00 for a 10 foot by 20 foot space, and $50.00 for a 20 foot by 20 foot space. Vendors can register online at www.vinita.com/events or call the VACC office at (918) 256-7133.

Air cannons, catapults, and trebuchets (among other machines) will all be found on the firing line at this year’s festival. Categories will include youth, amateur, professional, and air cannon, meaning multiple teams will proudly get to call themselves chunker champions. The event is a great opportunity for kids of all ages to build something with their hands and engage in some friendly competition.

The Punkin Chunkin is more than a high-flying competition. It’s a fun-filled festival including food trucks, arts and crafts, and live music. A new feature this year is a Dutch oven cooking competition. Free activities for the kids include pumpkin bowling, pumpkin decorating, face painting, and more. Gates will be open from 11:00am to 3:00pm. General admission is $5.00. Children four and under are free. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.
