Grand Nation to Present Free Parenting Program
Court-approved Parenting With Love and Logic course is an effective, proven method that helps put the fun back in parenting.
Does parenting seem more difficult than you thought it would be? Are you frustrated because nothing seems to work with your kids and you’re left feeling exhausted at the end of the day?
Parents who just want to enjoy their children and have fun with them while enjoying a less stressful family life, too often, are left feeling more like a policeman than a parent.
Parenting With Love and Logic is a parenting approach that provides loving support from parents while at the same time expecting kids to be respectful and responsible.
Grand Nation, Inc. is bringing this effective and proven method to Craig County. Mondays from October 8 to November 19. Kevin and Shannon Baker will teach the Parenting With Love and Logic series.
The six-session parenting program will help parents learn practical techniques to raise self-disciplined kids, end power struggles and prevent arguments with love and respect. These are practical skills that can be used immediately.
Designed by the Love and Logic Institute, Parenting With Love and Logic is based on solid scientific research and has proven successful for nearly 40 years.
“We were offered to take these classes years ago, when our adult children were younger. We are so excited that it is coming back around,” said Denise Pierce. “This series of classes really helped us in raising our children to become responsible and confident young ladies. Thank you for an opportunity to help younger parents with it!”
Class topics will include Raising Responsible Kids, An Easier Way to Parent Staying C.O.O.L., Setting Limits Without Waging War, Getting Kids To Own and Solve Their Problems, Avoiding Power-Struggles and Teaching Kids to Complete Chores … Without Reminders and Without Pay.
Due to the popularity of the Parenting With Love and Logic method, Grand Nation is offering two classes, from 12:45 to 2:45 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. The classes will be held at the Grand Nation office, 123 S. Wilson, in Vinita, across from the movie theater. There will be no class on Monday, Nov. 12.
The free parenting classes are also court-approved. Certificates will be presented upon completion of the course.
“Huge thank you to Grand Nation for all the great services they provide to the people of Craig County and the surrounding areas,’ said Andie Bowers with DHS. “Love and Logic parenting classes is a wonderful opportunity for the people of Craig County. These classes being offered right in Vinita gives an opportunity for some that do not have the means to travel to be able to take advantage of this great parenting tool. Thank you Grand Nation!”
Class sizes are limited, so pre-registration is required.
“Grand Nation would like to acknowledge New Life Church for the purchase of the Love and Logic curriculum. Affordable parenting classes have been an identified need in our area for some years now. These classes would not have been possible without the partnership with New Life Church and we are indebted to them,” said Jennifer Hinson, executive director of Grand Nation, “There is a parallel project called the Fatherhood Initiative that is currently being worked on through a partnership with the Health Department.
“These community partnerships are vital to our goal of increasing the overall wellness of our communities. We are looking to increase our community partnerships with our local churches and invite them to attend our TurnChange meeting on the third Thursday of every month.”
