March 16th Grand Lake Fishing Report

Good morning Good morning! Lake Goers and Fish Heads.

Well our South wind has returned, and with it our temperatures are steadily on the rise. After seeing a glimpse or two of the sun on Wednesday, you can surely expect more sun during the morning hours of Thursday. We'll be headed for a high of 60 degrees by 5pm on Thursday. (Which is much better than 40, if you ask us.) With some sun in the morning, turning to partly cloudy and overcast it will surely be interesting to see what anglers can drag into their boats! Today is day one (of two) of the Anglers Choice tournament here on Grand Lake. Fishgrand.com will be at weigh-in as usual bringing you pictures of the monsters pulled from the water! Many of the Anglers have had luck during practice, with Team Koopman and Fiser bringing in a 9 lb 14 oz giant yesterday. If the weights are anything like the practice, we'll surely have some memorable kodak's to share. Without further due.....

DATA:

Conditions: Clear overnight, with clouds moving in around 7am. Partly cloudy morning transitioning to an overcast afternoon. Cool at sunrise (38 degrees) with light winds from the SSE. Slow warm up, working toward that 60 degree high in the afternooon.
Lake Level: 741.98 with intermittent power generation at the Pensacola Dam
Barometric Pressure: 30.25 slowly falling throughout the day to 30.00
Humidity Level: 65% hanging steady throughout the day.
Wind: 5-6 Mph SSE at sunrise, steadily increasing to 15 Mph South sustained during the afternoon.
Sun: Rise 7:28 am, Set 7:27 pm (days are getting longer)
Moon: Waning Gibbous, 87% visible BRIGHT overnight.
Water Temperatures: You will still find high 40s down lake in spots. 50-52 degrees over the main channels, with some areas such as honey creek, horse creek,  upper Neosho and ELK rivers seeing temperatures approaching 55-57
.
Water Clarity:
ELK River: Stained West of the HW 10 bridge, clearer as you make your way EAST.
Neosho River: moderately stained (but warm)
Honey Creek: mild stain
Horse Creek: moderately stained
Down Lake: mild stain, with clearer water in the backs of channels such as Drowning and Duck Creek. The on/off light showers we've had lately have brought some mild stain to all waters.
