Mark Your Calendars GRDA’s summer programs

The calendar still says it is officially winter but many of us are already planning for warmer summer days, vacations, and summer camps. If you are making those kinds of plans now, the Grand River Dam Authority has a few dates you may want to keep in mind. Camps for both kids and teachers are on the GRDA schedule. Here is some more information on what is coming in a few months …

Journey to the Bottom of the Creek: This is a summer camp for children ages 9 to 12. It is comprised of two fun-filled educational days for participants to explore all things water! They will learn about the water cycle, how water gets polluted and what lives under the rocks. Also, they will get to float the Illinois River. It takes place June 11-12, 9am to 3pm each day, at the Tahlequah Municipal Armory in Tahlequah. More information will be available soon but if you have questions, call (918) 981 8473. Registration fee is $35.

A Grand Adventure: Like the June camp, this camp will also give participants the opportunity to explore the water cycle and learn what it means to study water quality. This camp takes place at the GRDA Ecosystems and Education Center in Langley, on July 11 and 12, from 9am to 3pm. You can also call (918) 981 8473 for more information on this event. Registration fee is $35.

Riverology 101 Educator Workshop: This final summer event is an immersive, educational adventure for educators to gain some continuing education credit. It takes places July 23 through July 25 at the Tahlequah Municipal Armory in Tahlequah. Early bird registration ($75) ends May 31, after that you can still register until July 10 at a cost of $100. Participants can gain 25 hours of professional development. Tours, meals, stream experience, T-shirt and lots of educational material are included in registration. Spots will fill up fast, so make plans now to join us!
