Draper wins District Speech Contest
Sara Draper wins regional speech contest
Grove High School senior Sara Draper recently was named a winner in the three-state Rotary District 4-Way Speech Contest. As the winner of the local Grove Rotary Four-Way Test Speech contest, she competed against the winners from more than 75 clubs from Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas.
Students present speeches that incorporate Rotary’s The Four-Way Test which is: Is it the truth?; Is it fair to all concerned?; Will it build goodwill and better friendships?; and Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
The contest teaches youth the principles of the Four-Way Test and assists them in furthering their education and future with monetary awards.
Because of the COVID-19 ban on gatherings, the speeches were presented at the district level by video. Sara received a $350 cash prize from Rotary District 6110 in addition to the $300 presented to her by Grove Rotary Club President Carol LaRue when she won the local contest in January.
