It’s a Thin Line
Sometimes you just have to shake your head - - because it doesn’t make sense - - at all.
We’ve recently received funding for a spay/neuter clinic at PAAS. It is exciting, it is rewarding and, we’ve discovered, it can be really frustrating!!! The clinic on the 11 th is a good example.
We had spay/neuters appointments scheduled beginning at 8:00 – until 1:00. And, for some of them, they were going to be able to get all their animals “fixed”. We’d verified by phone the night before and some of them had been insistent that “yes – they would be here”. Well, the reality is a few didn’t show, didn’t call and when we contacted them we received many different scenarios – depending on who called when.
The veterinarian, the registered veterinary technicians and support staff want to help us control the pet over population - - - and for those who didn’t show - - some will either have a litter or cause a litter - - - and that increases the pet over population challenges we face.
Frustrating - - you have no idea. We know if the dogs and cats could drive themselves and could sign the waiver papers – they would love the outcome - - -either no more roaming to cause a litter or no pregnancy they didn’t want and the puppies/kittens who could probably face an uncertain future.
So….we’re here to help….but as with any successful program….it only works if everyone shows up.
