Upcoming Events at Shangri-La April 19-25, 2018

Saturday night is our members’ “Spring Dinner Party” at the Summit Restaurant ($100 per person). This special “White Dinner” is going to be a fantastic event with a variety of wines and featured cocktails to go along with some great hors d’ oeuvres and dinner specially prepared by Chef Michael and his crew. The event begins at 6:00 Saturday evening. If you don’t have reservations, get them quickly. PLEASE NOTE there will be no regular dinner service at the Buffalo Bar or Summit Restaurant Saturday evening due to this special event. Doc’s Bar & Grill will, of course, be open as usual.

 It was great having PGA professionals from several states around the country here Monday and Tuesday for the Shangri-La PGA Shootout. It’s always nice to be have guests from around the country spreading the word about our golf course, club, and resort facilities.

The HGA Golf Group joins us this weekend at Shangri-La for the 27^th consecutive year, as well as the Long Shots Tour golf group and the Winslow Golf Group. It’s a busy weekend at the resort, too, as we have the privilege of hosting Explorer Pipeline, Glaxo Smith Kline, Zebco, Premier Consulting Partners, and a group from the House of David, as well as two Monkey Island Homeowners Associations – Island Park and Country Estates – both of whom will be holding their membership meetings at Shangri-La.

Monday is the regular weekly Play Day for the Women’s Golf Association and the Home of Hope Golf Team. Ladies in the 18-hole group will play a Low Gross/Low Net format this week. Nine-holers will play Low Net.

The Shangri-La staff continues to reach out in support of our community. Director of Communications and Government Relations Mike Williams will address the South Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon Thursday to explain some of the intricacies of the new laws taking effect impacting beer, wine, and liquor sales at bars, restaurants, grocery stores, convenience stores, and liquor stores, as well as upcoming elections to repeal restrictions on Sunday sales for on premises consumption at restaurants.

Chef Michael and his team have put together another incredible menu for SundayBrunch at the Summit (10:00-2:00) featuring Northwestern Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese, Poached Egg, English Muffin and Seasoned Breakfast Potatoes ($15), a Chicken Fried Chicken Sandwich with Chedar Cheese, Sliced Tomato, Bib Lettuce, Fried Egg, Texas Toast and Seasoned Breakfast Potatoes ($13), Buttered Pecan Pancakes with Candied Pecans, Caramel, Fresh Whipped Cream and a side of Applewood Smoked Bacon ($12), and a Denver Omelet with Diced Ham, Sauteed Onions, Sauteed Bell Peppers, Eggs, Shredded Cheese, Seasoned Breakfast Potatoes and Choice of Toast ($15).

NBA Playoffs continue this weekend – including OKC Thunder/Utah Jazz gamesSaturday night at 9:00 and Monday night at 9:30. PGA Players are in San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open this week. Doc’s Bar & Grill is always the best place to enjoy your favorite sporting events. We hope you will join us.
