Upcoming Events at Shangri-La July 5-11, 2018

It’s a great weekend of celebration this weekend as Shangri-La Resort hosts the Monkey Island Fireworks Display Saturday night. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and holiday spirit – come early and get a spot on the “Grand Lawn” in front of the resort hotel. That’s a great place to watch the show. We will have a bouncy house for the kids, as well as a concession stand with burgers, hot dogs, cotton candy, snow cones, soft drinks, wine and beer beginning at 6:00 p.m. We will also have a great fly-by of the American flag, as well as an air show by WWII vintage T-34 aircraft. The fireworks show will start as soon as it’s dark enough, probably a little after 9:00.

Eddy’s Lakeside Bar will also be a great viewing spot. “Three Dollar Rocket” will perform beginning at 8:00. They will break for the fireworks show, then continuing playing until Midnight.

Members may want to enjoy the fireworks show from a little less congested atmosphere. If so, members are welcome to enjoy the show from the practice tees on the driving range or from the south patio of the club house. The Summit and Buffalo Bar will also be open, of course. To avoid traffic, Monkey Island members may consider utilizing golf carts on the Pedestrian/Golf Cart Trail. To protect the fairways, greens, and bunkers, the Shangri-La Golf Course will be closed duringSaturday night’s show. Only members who are on the “Shangri-La Trail Plan” will be allowed on the golf course for the show (if they are driving carts with the required “Trail Plan” sticker).

This week, we are proud to also be hosting the St. Andrews Homeowners Association Saturday.

On the golf course, we host our 4^th of July Holiday “Yellow Rabbit Run” Alternate Shot horse race Friday at 5:00. Sign up at the Golf Shop if you would like to participate in that fun event. Monday, is the 2018 Shangri-La Sports Camp for the youngsters, featuring three days of golf, swimming, fishing, and horseback riding. The SLWGA Ladies will also be on the course Monday for their regular Play Day with 18-holers playing LG/LN/Low Putts and the 9-holers playing LN/Low Net.  Monday evening, the Home of Hope Special Olympics Golf Team will be on the course.

Doc’s Bar & Grill now offers a weekend Breakfast Buffet from 7:00 a.m.-Noon on Saturdays and Sundays. Choose from a Continental Breakfast or a Full Buffet. The newly approved change in our liquor law allows you to enjoy your favorite alcoholic beverage beginning at 10:00 a.m. Sundays. We will be serving Sundayat both Doc’s and the Summit beginning at 10:00 – and at Eddy’s upon opening at 11:00.

Chef Michael and his culinary crew also have a very special Sunday Brunch line-up for the Summit Restaurant this week (10:00-2:00).

Doc’s Bar & Grill is open daily for three meals, and now offers Pizza Delivery Service on Monkey Island Thursday-Monday. There is a phone number dedicated exclusively to that service. If you live on the Island, just call 918-257-7777 and place your order. We’ll bring it right to your door.
