GOLF FACT OF THE WEEK

CHEROKEE GOLF CLUB – Grove

Disabled American Veterans scramble held June 17th at Cherokee Grove Golf Course in Grove. Heavy thunderstorms greeted the golfers who had to wait for the storms to clear. The rest of the day was very pleasant with a nice breeze and the course drying out enough to make it very playable. The turn out was a full house for the golf course. Winners were as follows: Flight 1 Winners; Dick Bassett, Linc Bassett, Richard Bassett, and Jason Geer. Flight 1 Runners up were; DeMaris Rector, Becky Murphy, Brandon Roller and Jerry Friend. Flight 2 Winners; Fred Morrow, John Morrow, Tabi Morrow and Ty Morrow (3 generations of Morrows on this team. Flight 2 Runner Up Roger Cook, Al Daley, Jim Bearsue, and David Lee. Closest to the Pin-hole #2 John Morrow, #8 Longest Drive Jim Beseau, #11 Longest Drive Tabi Morrow, #17 Closest to the pin Richard Bassett. Pulled pork sandwiches with sides for lunch.

-Cherokee Grove Monday Night League 9 holes. Get there at 4:30 and hit the ball at 5 p.m. This League is steadily growing, still plenty of time to sign up for this year. Stop by the clubhouse on Quail Run Rd or call 918-786-4100. Winners are as follows: 1st in A Flite low net Steve Ragsdale; 1st B Flite Bill Martin, and 1st in C Flite Dave Torline

PATRICIA ISLAND COUNTRY CLUB – Grove

Patricia Island Country Club Tuesday Night League. The greens were smooth rolling and fairways are looking great. Winners were as follows: 1st Low Net was a tie between Chuck Watson and Mike Kelly, 2nd Low Net was also a tie with Dusty Logan and Terry Clark; Closest to the Pin won by Terry Clark; 3 Skins went to Dusty Logan and 1 Skin going to Terry Clark. This League is looking for new members, contact the Patricia Island Country Club(918-786-3338 Ext 3) or just drop on Tuesday at 4:30 and sign up.

LOCAL TOURNAMENTS

GOLF TIP OF THE WEEK

90% of all golfers tee the ball up to low!

When a ball is on a tee, IT IS OK to swing up on the ball. Technically we call that ascending.

When a ball is on the turf it is best to descend on the ball.
