March 6th Grand Lake Area Golf Report
GOLF FELLOWSHIP
I had the pleasure of playing golf with Dick Boyd recently. Be aware, he is a good ball striker.
Also played with Bill Slepka, Dennis Patrick, Gregg Compton and Jamie Perryman.
I will not tell you who beat me.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS GOLF TEAM
March 13th is our first session.
We are still looking for a few more coaches (helpers) for our Home of Hope (Vinita) Special Olympics Golf Team. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE GOOD AT GOLF. You do have to be good working with this great group of special needs people. We just make sure that they have a good time and maybe learn a little along the way. Right now we have 21 volunteers and we really need just a few more.
We meet every Monday at Shangri-La from 5:00 to 6:30. Jack Moore and I take of the scheduling, etc. All you have to do is show up as much as possible. This is the most rewarding thing that I have ever done and I really would like to share it with some others. Please give me a call. 405-834-3217.
Shangri-La’s MGA (Men’s Golf Association) is planning for a great season. Be sure that you are signed up. Look for announcements. Great pay-outs for all levels of players….

GOLF TIP OF THE WEEK
Much of the golf swing is counter-intuitive. For instance, it might feel good with your feet wider, but that actually will hurt you. Feet more narrow is best. A good rule of thumb is feet to be about the width of your shoulders or hips. Ultimately the goal is to have your head move AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE.
I love it when I’m teaching a group that all works together or plays together, ie: bank employees, etc.
If you want your group of friend/co-workers to take a group lesson (or sessions) and “share the cost” to get the price down, give me a call. Steve at 405-834-3217.
This is a really economical way to get some basic first hand golf swing information.
Good golf swing information applies to beginning as well as experienced golfers.

GOLF JOKE of THE WEEK
Not golf. But some golfers think this way:
The oil and gas operator was in a big financial trouble... He had bought and contracted several thousand acres of minerals thinking that the area was the next big play, and instead, it was a bust. It was so bad he was even contemplating becoming a roughneck again. As a last resort, he went to see a priest and poured out his story of tears and woe. When he finished, the priest said, "Here's what I want you to do... Put a beach chair and a Bible in your car and drive up in the mountains to the
lake. Take the chair and the Bible to the water's edge, sit down in the chair, and put the Bible in your lap. Open the Bible... The wind will rifle the pages, but finally the open Bible will come to rest on a page. Look down at the page and read the first thing you see. That will be your answer... That will tell you what to do."
A year later the oil and gas operator was back to see the priest. The operator was driving a new Lincoln and wearing a pair of high-dollar boots and an expensive felt hat. The operator pulled an envelope stuffed with money out of his pocket and gave it to the priest as a donation in thanks
for the advice. The priest recognized the benefactor, and was curious. "You did as I suggested?" he asked. "Absolutely," replied the oil and gas operator. "You went to the lake?" "Absolutely." "You sat in a beach chair with the Bible on your lap?" "Absolutely." "You let the pages riffle until they stopped?"
"Absolutely." "And what were the first words you saw?"
"Chapter 11."
KEEP IT IN THE MIDDLE !
