RC Livesay Photography

RC Livesay has spent decades documenting Grand Lake from nearly every angle — from the shoreline and the water to the sky above it. His archive includes millions of images capturing changing seasons, wildlife, landmarks, homes, events and everyday life around the lake. He moved to Grand Lake full time in 1998 after first discovering it while living in California, and photography has been his full-time work ever since.

RC photographs homes, lakefront property and commercial buildings throughout the Grand Lake area for owners, agents and businesses. Listing photography combines interior and exterior coverage with drone imagery that shows the shoreline, dock, water frontage and surrounding property in context — something ground-level photos alone cannot do at Grand Lake.

RC has worked with drone photography for roughly 12 to 15 years, giving viewers a bird's-eye view of the water and the surrounding area. Aerial work is used for property listings, marinas and resorts, commercial sites, event locations, and documenting construction and development around the lake.

Wildlife is a constant thread through RC's work. American white pelicans, bald eagles, wood ducks, herons, egrets and owls all turn up in his galleries, alongside sunrises, sunsets, storms and the seasonal moods of the shoreline. The pelicans in particular have become closely associated with his photography of the lake.

Sailboat Bridge is one of RC's favorite subjects. He photographs it from the ground, from the water and from the air. 'It never looks the same way twice,' he told Show Me the Ozarks in June 2026. 'The lighting, the arches, it's always changing.' The result is one of the most complete photographic records of the Grand Lake landmark anywhere.

RC has photographed Grand Lake community life for years — festivals, celebrations, fishing tournaments, fireworks, boat parades and gatherings. He particularly enjoys the Lendonwood Fairy Festival in Grove, where organizers have used his photographs to promote the event and encourage donations.

RC's photography reaches well beyond individual clients. Fifty-five acrylic photographs by RC are installed throughout INTEGRIS Hospital, and he has documented regional growth including the construction of the Grove Expo Center and update projects at Shangri-La Resort.

RC has written two books that pair storytelling with photography. 'The Secret Life of the Grand Lake Pelican' follows the habits and seasonal patterns of the American white pelicans many visitors associate with Grand Lake. 'Jerry Anne's Place' tells the story of a woman who built her two-story home largely by hand from materials found on her property, living there alone for more than 40 years while running 250 head of cattle.
