Before you launch
Check the marine forecast, top off fuel, test bilge and nav lights, and tell someone on shore your plan. Ramps and coves fill up on holiday weekends — go early.
On the water
Observe posted no-wake zones near marinas and bridges. Watch for standing timber in the upper river arms. If weather builds, head for cover.
