Grove Area Chamber of Commerce Weekly Update

May 7, 2025

If you follow Oklahoma sports teams, you will know that the OKC Thunder is hot and heavy into post season play. Our house was extremely animated this week as they dropped game one. The added emotions reminded me of a quote that I truly love. Years ago, I took my younger sister Kae Lani to an OU basketball camp in Norman. Inside the office, former coach Sherri Coale had a quote on the wall that stuck with me.

“Success leaves footprints. Find them and follow them.”

It was a challenge for her team to push themselves in all areas. When we search for the good things around us, we truly find opportunities. One of the best business practices we can instill in our teams is to focus on “We” instead of “Me”. It’s an easy statement to make but it brings a heavy punch that can transform a business, an organization, and a community. It is our goal over the busy summer season ahead that we continue to concentrate on the positives, build on them, and watch the lake region grow. It’s a GREAT time to be on Team Grand Lake!

Speaking of opportunities, we are closing in on the deadline to participate in the new Grand Lake Adventure Passport campaign. If you have not received the information, please reach out to the Chamber today. This marketing campaign is aimed at recruiting families coming to the lake for tournaments and other visitors to spend time in our businesses and explore the region during their trip. It is also an opportunity to educate locals on the importance of spending dollars locally and the benefits to our cities, county, and state. We can all venture to Missouri or Arkansas for a day away, but when we spend our money there, we pay for their essential services. Making small changes to our thinking can make an impact locally. The goal of this campaign has many benefits, and we hope you will join us.

Friday, May 23rd, we will host our next series in the State of the Region Forums. Join us for breakfast that morning for a legislative update from Representative Josh West. We will also meet the new Executive Director of the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department for an update on the department and the 2025 travel season. Get registered today and help us welcome Sterling Zearley to Grove for his first official visit as the new leader of Oklahoma Tourism. Tickets are $20 for members and $25 for non-members. You can register online on the Chamber website or call our office. 918-786-9079

Thank you for your continued support and for the numerous membership renewals this month. We are grateful for your partnership as we work to make the Grand Lake and Grove region a place where people want to live, work, and visit.

Have a great week,

~ Amanda
