Power for Progress …A weekly column from the Grand River Dam Authority Proud to be a community partner

Supporting community gatherings … Community spirit is alive and well across Oklahoma hometowns, and GRDA is proud to support many of the fairs, festivals and events that make these communities unique.
As we slowly head toward fall and the many festivals and celebrations associated with the season, the Grand River Dam Authority is proud to be a community partner, supporting many of these events.
Staying connected to our municipal customer communities (with many customer relationships dating back over 75 years) and the communities around the GRDA lakes region helps to sustain solid relationships and gives GRDA an awareness and appreciation of the history and unique characteristics of each community. Working side by side with city leaders, community volunteers, and event organizers, GRDA’s goal is to contribute to the promotion of Oklahoma hometowns.
No matter the event – a fall festival, Founder’s Day, concert in the park or rodeo – GRDA looks forward to participating alongside its Oklahoma neighbors. After all, “power for progress” is not limited to the homes, businesses, and schools where Oklahomans live, work and learn, it also extends into the parks, arenas, and main streets where they celebrate and congregate.
Today, GRDA’s support of customer communities is as important as ever, as many of these communities are trying to do more with less while still preserving the special traditions that make them unique. Oklahoma history, tradition and community spirit is alive and well and GRDA is proud to help sponsor and support many of the events that keep these things going.
After all, that is part of the greater public power tradition that has guided GRDA since its creation, over 90 years ago.
GRDA is Oklahoma’s largest public power electric utility; fully funded by revenues from electric and water sales instead of taxes. Each day, GRDA strives to be an “Oklahoma agency of excellence” by focusing on the 5 E’s: electricity, economic development, environmental stewardship, employees, and efficiency.
